Been involved in the adult literacy field - volunteer tutor, practitioner, researcher, curriculum writer, trainer - for more than 35 years, in England, Sierra Leone, and Canada (here now for almost 30 years!) All this work led me to the issue of the impact of violence on learning and how to address it - been involved in research and practice projects on the issue since the early early 90s and now with allies i have been building this website since 2006 - i believe that each one of us feeling OK about ourselves, comfortable that we can learn what we choose, and make change in our lives is the foundation of a just society - and that addressing the impact of violence in all educational settings is vital for that to be possible.
